About us

People are the purpose.
Correctness is the foundation.
Simplicity is what we owe the person doing the work.

We are building Abivian to give people more room to succeed. Less effort spent untangling obligations. More clarity and capacity to move a business forward, with professional judgment at the centre.

Regulations protect consumers, fair markets and responsible business. Those protections are worth keeping. The unnecessary effort, uncertainty and friction around meeting them are not.

As regulation grows more interconnected and resources remain scarce, the size of a company’s budget should not determine its ability to understand its obligations or pursue its ambitions.

Our starting point

A familiar difficulty.
A new possibility.

We came together at the intersection of financial compliance, enterprise leadership and human-machine interaction. Launching a product, changing a process or entering a market repeatedly brought the same difficulty into view: connecting what the rules require with what a business can actually do.

People were asking how AI could help. We saw real possibility, but compliance is not simply a question answered well. It involves laws whose meaning depends on context and on one another, the reality of a particular company, and decisions where getting it right matters.

Intelligence could be a powerful component. It still needed a system built around the work.

Foundations before features

Start with the law.
Keep its meaning.

We did not start by wrapping a workflow around a model. We started by breaking law into structured, source-grounded requirements: who must do what, under which conditions, with which exceptions. Definitions and cross-references had to travel with the obligation, not disappear in a summary.

Only then could we connect those requirements to company reality and evidence, assess the position and turn findings into practical action.

We have spent three years developing the Abivian platform, bringing together compliance expertise, software engineering, machine learning and data science. From the beginning, our focus has been on making complex requirements understandable and actionable, while preserving the legal meaning behind them.

That has meant testing, challenging and refining how the platform works, from interpreting an obligation to examining evidence and helping someone act on a finding. Reliability had to be engineered, not assumed. We built the foundations first, so that powerful capabilities could become practical tools people can use with confidence.

The founders

Three perspectives.
One shared purpose.

Greater capability. Your judgment at the centre.

Different experience, brought together around a common conviction: technology should serve the person doing the work.

The responsibility stays with the professional. The capacity to carry it should grow.

Less unnecessary work. More room for judgment.

We are not building Abivian to give people longer lists of problems. We are building it to help them resolve those problems, recognise what already works and focus their attention where it matters.

We believe good compliance should be proportionate, understandable and useful. Technology should help people express what they do, improve what needs changing and make informed decisions, without surrounding every obligation with another layer of administration.

Our ambition is not to create more compliance work. It is to make the work that matters easier to do, and easier to stand behind.
